0-6-0 pannier tank locomotive types have long been closely associated with the Great Western Railway, the design evolving between 1890 and 1948 from the type’s original saddle tank origins. Originally all of the class were built with an open cab, but pannier tanks replaced the original saddle tanks by the 1920s, with around half of the 2721 class eventually receiving enclosed cabs. These survived into British Railways ownership, but all were withdrawn between 1948 and 1950, very few actually receiving British Railways liveries.
Our Hornby RailRoad collection provides a perfect entry into the exciting world of 00 gauge railway modelling. Designed to be less easily damaged, yet maintaining attractive detailing and accurate liveries, the range is ideal for both the younger enthusiast and experienced modeller. View the full range
