I have checked this on numerous occasions and I do not believe there is a VIP section on the website any more. All the links above direct you to the Membership page but there is no VIP link as previously. The only thing I can find is the club specials which you can add to your basket. No competions page etc.

@Chrissaf

The loops are isolated at the crossovers.

Just using Insulated Rail Joiners is not enough. It only takes a lapse of concentration and have one loop set to DC and the other set to DCC and then try and run a train across the cross-over and you will end up connecting the outputs of the DC and DCC controllers together. This has the potential to do permanent damage to controller electronics.

Are not all the brass wires shorted together in this image or is it an optical illusion due to the camera angle?

Optical illusion, they are separated vertically. Correct on the DC + DCC. I generally only plug the DCC in on its own and toggle the 2 loops to that controller.

Hi all, I always wanted a test track that could take DC & DCC so I made up the attached for a 2 loop test bed. (Base from last years christmas layout) Each loop is wired to the centre of the DPDT switch. The loops are isolated at the crossovers. I can plug in 2 DC controllers or a DC & DCC. Really enjoyed making up the copper busses.

Hi FishyDelishy, I was was intrigued by your post as I have just started my Christmas layout build which is going to be based on . . . Goathland/Hogsmeade. I had purchased all the parts above and measured them for the project. Measurements attached for your pleasure. I also have this on AutoCAD for baseboard dimensions.

@walkingthedog

Club VIP area? I must admit to never seeing that.

I think international club members will be back soon. The thing to keep in mind is the way Hornby shares have dived recently there may not be a club for anybody or even Hornby.

That would be a shame.

@MasterGamer............just send an email to newclubs@hornby.com and ask the question..........HB

Hi folks, I'm a longtime club member in Ireland. My membership expired in January and I was waiting for the relaunch. Today I recieved an email from the club Administrator stating that the International section of the club was still under review and quote 'Unfortunately we will not have news for a while regarding this.' Needless to say, I expressed my displeasure with the clubs attitude. We non UK residents are also paying members of the club and have supported it over the years. We are now excluded from being able to collect club specials or even accessing the club VIP area on the website. We have been relegated to second class collector status. Way to go Hornby.

Just renewed my membership and recieved my £20 Voucher. Went to the club models section to find that there are only 2 models available, both of which I already have from previous years. By the way, the exclusive Club Kit Specialist Spitfires 1:48 - Airfix Club Special is not available in the club shop but is in the main shop at £9.99. What's going on? As a Hornby & Airfix club member for a long time, I'm feeling a little short changed. I know we get the 10% discount on all models but there is not much point in getting a voucher that you can't spend. Why not just give a voucher for the Airfix shop? Smile
