Wellwhynot
How often do you clean your track and loco wheels mine seem to want cleaning after each session I am using isopropanol alcohol
walkingthedog
Track very occasionally, wheels even less. I don’t seem to get much dirt. Certain areas seem worse than others but usually it will be a section about an inch long. Why are you getting dirty track and wheels? Do you clean the rolling stock wheels. If any of it has plastic wheels they seem to attract and distribute dirt at a fast pace. Have you over lubricated your locos? You need a better title for your post, it doesn’t actually attract attention. Why not 'How often do you clean your track' for instance.
2e0dtoeric
If you run DCC, of course, clean more often, because it is more critical of muck!
walkingthedog
You still shouldn’t have to clean after every session. Every few months for the track.
RedBill
Where in the house is your layout situated? Bill
Jeff Mennell
I clean mine about every two weeks but it's a small layout so I guess the trains go around it more frequently. Also my locos are old and spark more than new ones. Most of my rolling stock has the rubbish plastic wheels as well.
walkingthedog
Well worth replacing plastic wheels. Shouldn’t really get sparking.
Jeff Mennell
WTD, I will replace them in time. Some of the old Triang locos don't have nickel silver rims and are a bit rough....

Mico11
WWNLooking back through your previous posts I noticed that "Tyred Driving Wheels" cropped up.It is my experience that these speed up the process of causing dirty track, as evential wear takes place It might be a consideration when making a further purchase. walkingthedog
Traction tyres have exactly the same effect as plastic wheels.
