Built as one of the ten conventional 1938 Locomotive Programme 'Duchesses' that Stanier had yearned for, 46232 Duchess of Montrose entered traffic at Camden on 2 July, 1938. Duchess of Montrose was sent to Polmadie at the beginning of January 1940 and was damaged by enemy action while allocated there, on 18 November, 1940. Returning to traffic on Boxing Day 1940, the locomotive remained at Polmadie until its withdrawal on 29 December, 1962.

Duchess of montrose
Captures the prototype perfectly with excellent pulling power if you are fortunate enough to have a big enough layout this will let you run full length trains. Lined up against the older tooling it's just that little better in ever detail. Wheels have the correct profile the fine detail is crisper the tender as lost it lip paint finish it very well done. Cab detail is wonderfully captured. I would recommend this model if your thinking of buying one.
Is it expensive? at frist glance maybe yes, but this is the sign of the times you can not have such high detail for the price of railroad model.
Would i buy a second yes I have two all ready sir William stanier and now Duchess of montrose. ... Read more
