View the One:One Collection at the Hornby Open Weekend
Hornby are providing you with the opportunity to attend our action-packed Open Weekend on the 17th – 18th August at The Hornby Visitor Centre. Having moved back to Margate earlier this year we are now partnering with the One:One Collection, bringing you an exclusive look at a selection of their operating steam trains, coaches and wagons. A wonderful chance for our collectors and customers to experience the facilities and learn all about our heritage.
Bittern Steam Locomotive
The One:One Collection Museum will display some of the most iconic UK railway locomotives, engines and coaches in the Margate storage area for the first time. Relish the thrilling opportunity to get up close to a 50-tonne breakdown crane and the full-size steam locomotives ‘Bittern’ and ‘Black 5’.
Absorb yourself in the history of Hornby with some of the original tooling locomotives, rolling stock and memorabilia. These displays will allow you to enjoy the newly refurbished Hornby Visitor Centre and walk through the buildings where many Hornby products were designed and made. A must see for railway modellers and fans of Hornby.
Black 5 Steam locomotive
There will be a chance to meet the Hornby stars of the BBC series ‘James May’s Big trouble in Model Britain’ and chat with our design and development teams about how models are made. On top of this we will provide a selection of hot and cold food, snacks and ice cream plus much more, ensuring a summer event you will not want to miss out on.
The event will be taking place on the Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 4pm, with the option to purchase early bird tickets to enter the event at 9.30am. Early entry tickets for Saturday have already sold out, but there are a limited number of afternoon tickets for the Saturday with entry from 1pm. Experience a fun summer day out for those of all ages with family tickets available and children under 5 going free. Purchase your tickets before they sell out by visiting the website.
