Description
The lead locomotive of the class, 6220 Coronation entered the LMS stock book on 1 June 1937, having been displayed to the press at Crewe Works on 26 May. Regular Coronation Scot services commenced on 5 July, but prior to that 6220 Coronation was filmed for a publicity feature with the train between Colwyn Bay and Llandudno Junction. From 20 December 1938, 6220 ran as 6229 Duchess of Hamilton, as 6229 was masquerading as 6220 Coronation during a visit to the USA and even after returning in 1942, it was not until 14 May 1943 that 6220 Coronation was restored to its correct identity.

At Long last, Hornby have given us the first member of the class no: 6220 "Coronation" in her orignal form (since the new tooling).
Its great to see another BLUE LMS livery Princess Coronation.
Its certainly been well worth the wait.
Nicely finish application of the silver stripes and on the wheels.
Painted cab detail, a sliding roof vent, removable coal load, with the steam pusher modelled underneath, correct winged headlamps, front steps included, smooth 5 pole motor (increadibly quiet), a very strong loco.
Just like no: 6221 "Queen Elizabeth (2018) & no: 6224 (Princess Alexandra) (2019).
Not to mention a well packed detail pack for optional extras to fit to the loco.
I cannot wait for the blue Coronation coaches to come out, to acompany her.
I would like to see Hornby make it a full house (nos: 6220- 6224), all 5 locos in BLUE. (LMS princess coronations like this).
Top marks, well done Hornby!...
