Delivered into Newport Docks on board the MV Happy Dragon on 13 February, 2016, 66779 was the final Class 66 to be built for the UK market. In a ceremony that took place at the National Railway Museum on 10 May, 2016, GBRf's Managing Director named the Brunswick Green liveried locomotive as Evening Star.

Excellent, exceeded expectations
Beautifully finished engine in the very attractive special finish for the last Class 66.
It's like a Railroad price, for a non-railroad engine. Ok, it's not as superlative as the most recent Hornby engines (e.g. Class 60), but at this price point it is exceptional.
The etched nameplates were unexpected, but very welcome. There are replacement front valances to go with the pipes and dummy couplings if the engine is going to be on display. But this is far too good to be left in a display cabinet - it is powerful, smooth and quiet.
There are no working lights, but DCC ready, so fitting the 8-pin chip is a breeze. I think I will add a TTS chip to complete this fine model. Well done Hornby.... Read more
