I would liove to haul some interwar wagon LITS behind my 00 Sir Francis Drake like the 2018 brochure cover, and i think these are only in HO so I may be mixing and matching, hwo awful would that look?

I'd pick up on the substitution them by downloading a free  evaluation of the Bigbear train control software and configure that to work with your Elite etc. on the same com port with baud rate of 115200.  Then you can tell if it's the DCC controller or RailMaster that's not working without having 2 x DCC controllers

Raf96 I can do this all day but I am not sure my ideas would be listened to:

  • My biggest ask would be for a programable TTS decoder where we can add our own sounds which should cheap to make (think raspberry pi and arduino boards ) and be great business for Hornby.
  • extend the freight wagon ide and have a TTS decoder around a brake van, and a luggage van for steam.
  • I'd also borrow the idea of static TTS decoders from Gaugemaster for Skaledale buildings e.g.signal boxes, stations and farm houses and integradte would be unique.
  • For the Coronation Scott I'd license the Coronation Scot music played at Euston when she used to depart.
  •  For locos anything steamy and Southern as it's my focus plus there is only the S15 and Merchant Navy just nown(with hopefully Lord Nelson to come). For example  I have loksound in my Adams radial, Wainwright and Schools already and will likely add one to my Q1 as I am 58 already and may die before there is TTS decoder for this quirky but beautifully detailed Hornby model

Ciao Pietrarsa,

The annoying pop-up is because of the way RailMaster and its drivers were written for XP.  It raises this annying message because you have to run it as an Administrator (my shortcut does this for me).  If I use the other software to control my layout with the Elite it just works (I still prefer RailMaster design though).

You can disable User Account Control but if you search on how to do this you won't find anything from Microsoft as this feature is trying to make your PC secure.  I do have it turned off but I am super careful about what I install and where I get software from.

On a seperate not I have moved RailMaster and the Pro pack between several win 10 machines with no issue - and I now have a 23" touch screen all in one PC specifically to control my loft layout.

I just want tio say thanks for listenning Hornby Wink I was in the middle of organising a respray of my Merchant Navy Royal Mail to wartime black and now there is Aberdeen Commonwealth coming out which I have pre-ordered.  However cheeky ask -  smoke deflectors for my Sir Francis Drake and TTS decoder for it.

oh and one other thing on this thread (I'm only allowed 2 posts a day at the moment Embarassed) what you can't get form videos or photographs really is how well the newer locomotives move Sir Francis Drake is so smooth and quiet even before I have DCC decoder to really control its speed.  Sometimes the engineering inside these locos is also worth paying for

Thanks all muchg food for though here but I think I'll stay away from wagons from oop North, then as I am doing the thirties.

A newbie question ll these lovely provate owner wagons from Hornby and others would they have ever made it in to the South East of England or did a wagon with "Fred Bloggs Doncaster"  pretty much live in that area?  A socend question is how on earth do you research this stuff? - My local model rail club has a great library, and I am good on the internet but every freight train I have seen heading south from London just has just the plain vans so maybe this a no.

Thanks gents and you are right with Hornby patience is a virtue! For example I nearly got my Merchant Navy Royal Mail resprayed in wartime black and now Hornby are bringing one out - so perhaps they might realease some more TTS decoders.

I can see that Hornby have a TTS decoder for Lord Nelson and I can also see you can't get it seperately for Sir Francis Drake which has now arrived in my engine shed.  So doesn anyone know anyone willing to aprt with the TTS decoder from Lord Nelson/ Fialing that  I guess my only options are the S15 and Merchant Navy decoders as at least they will have Southern whistles etc. any thoughts anyone bearing in mind that Loksound etc is really to expensive for me to justify?
