I recently had a problem with a new Bachmann Steam Loco where it just lurched forward after attempting a slow start or when stopping.  .

I was using a Decoder that had worked prefectly in another Bachmann Class 47.  I received some excellent advice from Bachmann Technical that it was likely caused by the back EMF setting.  They recommended that I changed CV54 to a value of 5 and CV55 to a value of 60.  This cured it perfectly.  Your problem may be completely different of course but it is likely that a change is required to one of the CV's.

Derek

No, it is correct in the DCC section.

(Rob is an expert on broken Elites, hopefully he will be along soon to advise)

Hi New

I used to own the Turntable you are referring to and I converted it to DCC.  I placed the DCC Decoder in the hut.  There are no gears in the hut and it was just an empty space until I used it for the Decoder.  The gears are all housed below the hut.  I took the pictures below of the Turntable quite a few years ago.

My view is that you could remove the hut which will then leave the fence along the sides of the track as the highest item.  This could of course be removed but would certainly not be easy to replace and the turntable would probably look odd without it.  I would estimate the height of the hut as 50 - 55mm and it is mounted on a base that is probably about 20 - 25mm about the main track layout but I emphasise this is only a guess.

@markdcc

Do NOT Solder the Fishplates as you have suggested in your initial post.  If your track is new, the connections should be very good.  If it is not new, you can improve the connection by nipping the Fishplate ever so slightly with some pliers. (The emphasis here though is the EVER SO SLIGHTLY).

The sliding Fishplates allow the small amount of movement caused by Temperature changes.  Your track may warp if the joint is soldered.

Thank you all for those replies.

The Peco SL-91 seems ideal from the paper template link.  (It is interesting though that Peco describe it as a 'Small Radius Turnout')

I am considering adding some more sidings to my layout.  I realise that I could add a few more in the middle but I would prefer to add one (probably more) into the corners as shown on the picture below.

I will add an extension to my 8' x 4' board to cater for this but what is the best way to add a point to a 4th Radius Curve and which point is recomended?  All my track is Hornby.

I have just been reading it.  It seems a very good publication but I have thought that about all the club magazines I have received since I first joined the club last year.
