@MartyJ

Further the post by RAF96 above, you need to be aware that your picture will not upload immediately, as it will need to be approved by Hornby Admin.  This usually happens within 24 hours of posting if posted during office hours.

If you intend to post text as well as your picture, it is worth posting the text separately, otherwise it will be held up, waiting of the picture.

Be careful to account for the fact that your preferred location is on a bend.

I get the impression that most bridges seem to account for straight tracks.

@Jimbopuff

.... but splits into separate little balls.

That usually means that the surface is not completely clean, as is required with soldering.

@lambie

Welcome to the Forum

I regularly run Bachmann Loco's (mine are fitted with 36-553 & 36-554) using a Select Controller.  I do have the 36-557 fitted to a Heljan Class 128 Loco and this works perfectly with my Hornby Elite Controller.  (I cannot try it with the Select because I have allocated it id 128, which is outside the range of the Select).   My Select is still running the original version Firmware.

What id are you trying, as the Select is limited to up to id 59.

However, what you don't know is what the previous owner did regarding the change of Decoder and to some extent I agree with locojoe, regarding buying secondhand, especially when you cannot see it running before you buy.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

It could be that the Items causing problems just need a good clean and a service.  Use something like IPA on a cotton bud to clean the wheels and track (do not use anything abrasive). Also check and clean carefully the thin brass strips that contact the wheels and ensure there is a good electrical contact. Finally, a small drop of model train oil on all moving parts. (not 3in1 or WD-40 or anything similar). They usually say if you can see the oil, you have put too much on!

Let us know how you get on with this, because of it doesn't work, a more extensive strip down will be required.
