haroon
So here is hoping someone can help, I'm laying some track (all hornby) and have come across the following issues when using the diamond crossing...Here is a picture of how it should look like:/media/tinymce_upload/eb0ae60b667df597e049cc2085e57cd8.pngHere is a picture of how it actually looks, there is a gap between the diamond and the point on the right:/media/tinymce_upload/cb0b86f0323f7779b51575b5d8452a92.png I would have thought the track should line up and slot into place without gaps? Is it something anxious that I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you
96RAF
Have you got the correct diamond - there are two - left and right.Yes you must have as the other one wouldnt fit anywhere near - sorry.I dont suppose express points would be any better.Rob
walkingthedog
Could it be that the plan shows Hornby track and the picture looks like Peco. Their diamond crossings may not be the same?
trainlover23
Two/three points 1] The track us Hornby 2] Have you used the correct curve ? and 3] Have you used the diamond crossing the right way round. Peco now do lh and rh crossings I believe
96RAF
I've just tried it with both Hornby diamonds with R606 curve and standard LH points and it still comes up short per haroons picture. It does work after a fashion as I had a loop crossing on my old layout with diamonds. Its not quite the same.../media/tinymce_upload/da91d81657d45ec91d97b9542fa71ad4.PNG
Dazzler down under
Loks like the wrong point, the plan says to use left handed points, you have used right handed at the bottom of the pic, if you use a right handed on the top and join the curve to the diamond it should line up. Gordonvale
4 RH poin ts with RH diamondor4 LH points with LH diamond
LCDR
It will be the point at the top right which is the wrong hand. The curved part is slightly longer than the straight part when used that way. If you wanted to use that hand of point a short length of flexible track cut to correct length and a couple of rail joiners should be substituted for the fixed curve rail. flyingfox4475
I have looked at the photo and agree with others who have said the top point is a left hand one. if that is changed to a right hand one then it looks like it will work out ok. Nick_
The track diagram shows using 4 LH points. Your picture shows you're using RH points at the bottom and a LH point at the top
Chrissaf
As others have said, the wrong points in the wrong orientation. The image below may make the error more obvious../media/tinymce_upload/99f0033abba54721dfeed0f5a51ea132.jpg.
haroon
It worked! :DWrong point used, the top right point should have been a left hand point. The pic of the plan shows all points labled as the same, when it should actually be 3 right or left points with either 1 left or right point on the other side of the diamond crossing. Here's the pic with the right point used:/media/tinymce_upload/ca341d50350d406c9a14cb6baa16f4b4.pngStill a couple of tiny gaps between the links but that should be fixed when its all pinned down.Thank you all for your support, much appreciated! :)
walkingthedog
The points are all the same in the diagram, they are all left hand. It would also work with all right hand, you had a mixture. 😀
