2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Frank Hornby, arguably the father of model railways in this country. In his day, Frank Hornby was seen as both inventive and progressive and these are the qualities that modern day Hornby embraces with both enthusiasm and vigour which is dramatically more evident this year than ever before.
Four new steam locomotives, a new diesel shunter plus an iconic EMU add new dynamism to an already impressive array of motive power. Several of the new locomotives feature at the top of the ‘most wanted’ lists and have been created using the latest ‘design clever’ techniques ensuring superb models at readily affordable prices.
2013 also sees the not to be missed or repeated occasion when the last remaining six LNER Class A4 locomotives will be seen together at the National Railway Museum and it is with great pride that Hornby has created a superb limited edition model collection of these last six A4s in celebration of such a momentous occasion.
So please browse the range and hopefully you will see that in this anniversary year of the birth of Frank Hornby, the company that carries his name still follows his ideals.
