Place your bid to become an apprentice engine driver for the day

  • Start the day by working alongside the engines owner to clean, oil and light the fire on your Steam Engine.
  • Have a well earned breakfast – cooked by yourself, on the engines fire!
  • Steer the Engine in the Rally’s Grand Parade.
  • Family weekend ticket to the event (two adults & three children)
  • Opportunity to camp or caravan with the Steam Rally enthusiasts at the event – must provide own tent or caravan!
  • There may be the added opportunity of travelling on the engine prior to the event as it travels to Harewood.

Terms & Conditions

The participant(s) must be aged over 18.

The winner is responsible for the arrangement and cost of travel.

The lot will be taken on a day and at a time to be arranged between the winner and Harewood House.

This lot cannot be publicly resold without the permission of TopLots but can be offered as a gift.

The TopLots Heritage Auction is a fundraising event organised by the Association of Independent Museums (Registered Charity: 1082215) acting as the agent for arts and heritage organisations across the UK. Delivery of this lot, as described, to the winner is the responsibility of Harewood House which will receive (after direct transaction and listing costs) 80% of the winning bid. The remaining 20% is retained by the Association of Independent Museums (AIM) to cover the administrative costs of running the TopLots auction.

Additional Information

Harewood House, home to the Queen's cousin, the Earl of Harewood, provides a wonderful day out for all the family. The House, with its outstanding art collections, splendid State Rooms and fascinating 'Below Stairs' exhibition, is set in spectacular grounds, which include formal gardens and gentle woodland walks.
