Steam Train Packs

R3087
R3087 BR Pull-Push Train Pack

“Pull-Push” is a mode of operating a locomotive hauled train fitted with the facility for them to be controlled from either end. Originally pioneered by the GWR however, other railway companies adopted the same practice. Although Southern Railways introduced Pull-Push trains fairly early on, British Railways continued the practice with the introduction of such “new” trains using converted Maunsell coaches on the Southern Region as depicted in this pack.

R3092 Coronation Scot Train Pack - Limited Edition 2000

The genealogical tree of the LMS can be traced back to 1837 with the beginnings of the London & Birmingham Railway, the Grand Junction Railway and the Liverpool & Manchester Railway. In 1846 all three companies were incorporated into the London & Western Railway. Over the years the growth of independent railways in the Midlands and Scotland continued until under the Railways Act of 1921 some 120 independent companies were merged into the LMS (London, Midland and Scottish Railway). This limited edition train pack, of which there are only 2000, is to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the beginnings of the LMS which at one time was the larger of the “Big Four”. In celebration the LMS flagship locomotive, “Coronation” and matching coaches, all resplendent in the striking blue and silver livery of the “Coronation Scot” which was inaugurated in 1937, have been produced with each pack containing a numbered certificate.

R3094 Diamond Jubilee Royal Train Pack - Special Edition 1700

During Her Majesty’s Golden Jubilee year the Royal Train was used to great effect in transporting Her Majesty the Queen, accompanied by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh around mainland Britain as part of the royal celebrations. As yet no plans have been formulated for a similar journey during this Diamond Jubilee year, however should such a tour happen then what better and more appropriate locomotive could be chosen to haul such a regal train than “Britannia”, resplendent in BR Green and sporting a white roof denoting that the train being pulled has royal patronage.

R3093 Tornado Pullman Train Pack - Special Edition 2000

Their dream was to build a new Peppercorn Class A1 locomotive, a task that took them nearly 20 years to complete but eventually in 2008 their dream came true when 60163 “Tornado” moved under steam for the first time. This pack is inspired by the numerous special and char ter trains that “Tornado” has pulled since 2008 and none can be more special than the Pullman charters that bring an air of opulence and nostalgia for those lucky passengers who not only enjoy the exquisite interior of these cars but also the superb cuisine that is offered on such trips.

R3096 BR 4-6-2 ‘William Shakespeare’ Britannia Class - BR Green - Limited Edition 1500

The “Golden Arrow” was a service which operated from 1929 between London and Dover where passengers boarded a ferry to Calais and from there joined the “Fleche d’Or” for the onward journey to Paris. Introduced in 1926 in France the London to Dover service was made up of 10 Pullman Cars. During the Second World War the service was cancelled but was reinstated in 1946, however in September 1972 due to a decline in demand the “Golden Arrow” ceased. The Britannia Class locomotive, “William Shakespeare” carrying the distinctive Golden Arrows on its smoke deflectors was one of the main locomotives chosen by British Railways to haul the Golden Arrow train and therefore it is most suitable for this model to be produced in the livery of the period to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the end of the “Golden Arrow” train. This Limited Edition model of 1500 has included with each locomotive a numbered certificate.
