R1076 Virgin Trains Pendolino DIGITAL Set

This stunning 4 car Pendolino set is representative of Virgin Trains latest “state of the art” passenger rolling stock. The new Hornby 4 car model is ready to use straight out of the box.The large oval with two sidings ensures that there is plenty of track for the Pendolino to show off its accurate tilting mechanism especially when the train travels at speed around the bends. Each drive unit has lights that illuminate in the direction of travel but can, using the Hornby DCC Unit be independently switched on or off even when the train is in motion! Additional coaches are available so that a full train can be created. The TrakMat included can by adding Hornby Track and Accessory Packs be built up in stages into a fully functioning model railway layout. And with the addition of more locomotives and rolling stock the Hornby DCC unit really does make controlling the trains on all parts of the track incredibly straightforward. Available 2nd quarter

This excellent starter set boasts a feisty little shunting locomotive which is more than capable of moving the assortment of wagons around the oval of track included with this set. The locomotive is based on a Class 06 locomotive which saw most of is working life in the shunting yards of Scotland. This set also includes a Hornby Midi TrakMat plus an oval of track and with the addition of Hornby Track and Accessory Packs,can be enlarged to a simple layout with two ovals and two sidings. It can be argued that in the 1920s and 30s the British railways network was in its heyday.Small locomotives were used with some of the railway companies more mature rolling stock on small branch lines and because of their age and
in some cases dishevelled appearance,it is more than likely that at least one of these trains would have been nick named “Old Smoky”! The powerful Deltic locomotive included in this set can make easy work of pulling the 5 assorted pieces of rolling stock around the oval of track included with the set.A siding is also incorporated into the oval so that simple shunting manoeuvres can be performed by the enthusiastic operator.The City Freight set harks back to the early days of diesel traction and certainly looks impressive as it moves around the track especially if the circuit is placed on the Midi TrakMat included with the set. This is truly a magnificent set and one that will get the lucky recipient well on the way to building a model railway that they can be proud of! The famous “Royal Scot” train included with this set is representative of the famous London to Scotland service of the late ‘40s / early ‘50s and was a rival to the “Flying Scotsman” which ran on the East Coast Mainline.
